The chelated iron desulfurization technology is a wet oxidation desulfurization technology using chelated iron, similar to the LO-CAT sulfur recovery technology. This process adopts a one-step method to directly convert H2S into elemental sulfur, which has the characteristics of simple process, fast desulfurization reaction speed, high operational flexibility, high desulfurization accuracy, few side reactions, low alkali consumption, and no discharge of desulfurization waste liquid.
The basic principle of chelated iron desulfurization is that under weakly alkaline conditions with a desulfurization solution pH of 7.5~9, the QRP value of Fe3+(L) is moderate. In the desulfurization absorption tower, Fe3+(L) can only oxidize HS - (L) into elemental S, which has a fast homogeneous reaction rate and basically eliminates the opportunity for HS - (L) to enter the regeneration device and directly contact with O2, resulting in high selectivity for the generation of elemental sulfur and low rate of by-product salt generation during the desulfurization process; And Fe2+(L) is oxidized by O2 to Fe3+(L) in the regeneration device, while releasing OH -, achieving a cycle of desulfurization regeneration.
