Introduction to Wood Carbonization Machine:
Wood carbonization involves heating wood at temperatures ranging from 160 to 230°C (commonly used temperatures are 180 to 212°C) to improve its quality. This process reduces the wood's hygroscopicity and water absorption, enhances dimensional stability, biological durability, and weather resistance, thereby producing a wood product with excellent performance, beautiful color, and environmental friendliness.

Characteristics of Carbonized Wood:

  1. Environmental Protection and Safety: Wood carbonization heat treatment is a purely physical technology that does not involve adding chemical agents. Carbonized wood is an environmentally friendly material. Additionally, carbonization treatment can improve the quality of fast-growing planted forest wood, serving as a substitute for some natural forest wood. Therefore, carbonized wood is significant for natural forest conservation and environmental protection.

  2. Enhanced Moisture Resistance: After carbonization, the hemicellulose with high hygroscopicity degrades, reducing the wood's hygroscopicity and water absorption. In the same atmospheric conditions, the moisture content of carbonized wood is much lower than that of conventional wood: in the rainy season in the south, the moisture content of indoor carbonized wood is 7-8% lower, and in the north, it is 3-5% lower.

  3. Improved Dimensional Stability and Resistance to Deformation: After carbonization, the wood's hygroscopicity and internal stress decrease significantly, greatly reducing swelling, shrinking, and warping caused by moisture changes during use.

  4. Significantly Improved Rot Resistance and Weather Resistance: During carbonization, the wood's chemical composition changes, generating acetic acid, which decay fungi dislike, while greatly reducing their preferred nutrients. This inhibits the growth of decay fungi from the food chain, enhancing rot and weather resistance.

  5. Beautiful and Durable Color, Consistent Inside and Out, and Capable of Simulating Precious Tree Species Colors.

  6. Volatile Resins and Extracts, Facilitating Surface Finishing and Gluing.

  7. Changes in Mechanical Properties: The compressive strength parallel to the grain, modulus of elasticity in bending, and hardness slightly increase; while bending strength, impact toughness, and shear strength decrease.

  8. Easy Storage: The hygroscopicity of carbonized wood is significantly reduced, eliminating the need for temperature and humidity control in storage.

Wood carbonization equipment is used for heat treatment or thermal modification of wood. It features low energy consumption, simple operation, easy installation, commissioning, maintenance, and long service life. Wood carbonization equipment can be generally divided into kiln-type and tank-type carbonization equipment. Carbonized wood produced by this equipment can be used for outdoor decoration, gardening wood products, outdoor furniture, outdoor flooring, etc.

The newly developed control system ensures reliable control; fans are used to ensure uniform heat treatment; the temperature of the carbonization treatment equipment is adjustable between 130 and 210°C.

Requirements for Carbonization Equipment:

Powerful Thermal Capacity: The heat transfer medium temperature should be high (using thermal oil); the thermal oil flow rate should be large (using thick pipes); the heat sink's heat dissipation area should be large (using multiple finned heat sinks); electricity can also be used to achieve a fully automatic control system.

  2. High Airflow Velocity Through the Wood Stack: This facilitates heat transfer and uniform carbonization.

  3. Insulation, Airtightness, and Corrosion Resistance of the Shell and Equipment: The shell should be well-sealed and insulated.

  4. The color of the wood changes after carbonization, and the shade can be determined by the customer.

Products of Wood After Carbonization:

  1. Carbonized wood has a consistent color inside and out, ensuring even color across the entire board. The color of carbonized wood is physically applied and will not change over time, maintaining consistent decorative effects. Depending on the tree species and process, the color of carbonized wood ranges from yellow to dark brown. For light-colored fast-growing woods like pine, fir, and poplar, carbonization can make these inexpensive woods resemble tropical precious woods, with superior stability.

  2. Carbonized wood is known as physical "preservative wood" or heat-treated wood. It refers to wood that undergoes long-term pyrolysis treatment at temperatures of 180°C to 230°C using special processes.
